Edward Alexander Berger Who am I? What do I want?Simple questions, but ones that take a lifetime to answer. I am without question a member of the Millennial Generation. My world exists in a constantly expanding state. One full of challenges and opportunities which were previously unimaginable. I firmly believe that I can change the world for the better and am eager to apply what I know in order to do so. Born in Cortez Colorado I moved at the age of six to Arizona where I have spent time in Sedona, Prescott , Tempe and now Scottsdale . My childhood was filled with trips to Mexico and neighboring states. In place of 5th grade I spent 11 months backpacking across Europe with my family. In place of 7th grade I spent an additional 11 months R.V.ing with my family across the United States . By my Senior Year in High School I had served as a teaching assistant for two High School sponsored Marine Biology field trips to Rocky Point. Explored the space program by attending Space Camp in Huntsville , Alabama and participated in the We The People constitutional debate program. Played 2 years of basketball in the city league and founded what would become one of the longest running gaming guilds based on fair play and moral conduct in existence. College brought heavy academic and social commitments at Arizona State University . I served as an active member of the Real Estate Club and Financial Management Association while pursuing degrees from the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication and the Barrett Honors College . In the summer of my freshman year I returned to Europe - the British Isles - as part of a 7 week study abroad program. By the summer of my sophomore year I had accepted a position as a research/mapping intern with Colliers International. At the end of my summer internship I was invited to stay on as a part time employee. In my time with the company (04-07) I worked as a Mapping/GIS specialist, researcher, and IT professional. In fall of 04' I began Ballroom/Latin/Swing classes which eventually captivated my interest. In March of 07 I competed in the Las Vegas Challenge and was a finalist in several categories. Based on my personal experiences I worked with faculty in the spring of 07' to organize and present two seminars exploring the use of Ballroom dancing as a business preparatory tool. As part of my honors curriculum I published my thesis, "Not Just A Game: How On-line Gaming Communities Are Shaping Social Capital" the thesis served as a continuation of personal research I had been doing into the impact and potential value of video games on mainstream culture. In May 2007 I graduated with Honors and a 3.38 GPA from A.S.U. and continued my independent exploration of video games, web technology and their influence. Shortly there after I founded my Blog in order to publish the results/conclusions coming from some of the work I was doing. On Sept. 11th 2007 I began a 3 month backpacking tour of Europe , 2 of those months were spent traveling solo. In January of 2008 I accepted and began a position as an Analyst for Fox & Fin Financial Group. In February 2008 I founded FusionVirtual in order to help facilitate, market and protect my web development projects. |
